Psychiki Ygeia Foundation Uganda (PYFU) is a nonprofit organization that creates and builds communities of mental health champions by empowering individuals in their immediate communities to fight mental illness stigma. We create an environment where people live free from mental health stigma and can freely seek mental health services.
Mission
Transforming communities by promoting mental health awareness, enhancing access to care, supporting medication adherence, and reducing stigma for individuals with mental illness.
Vision
We envision a society where mental health is understood, accepted, and fully supported, by fostering knowledgeable and well informed individuals and communities.
Our Programs
Reaching out to communities such as schools, refugee camps, workstations, and any form of community gathering and, in these communities, we set up smaller groups and identify mental health champions who are trained to take the lead in supporting the mental welfare of the team members.
School outreaches
Our school outreaches focus on empowering youth and young adults in secondary schools with knowledge and skills about mental health.ted and affected with HIV to improve on their livelihoods.
My Mind, My Actions talk show
The talk show targets people from the cooperate sector such as the youth and the mature adults. The show looks at purely mental health-related matters.
Hospital workouts
To support the recovery of mental illness patients, we started a program of workouts at the mental wards of hospitals.
Champions academy.
The academy targets people in the fields of social science and psychology or any other related field to provide knowledge and skills in mental health well-being,
