The Hope Fund: Restoring Dignity and Compassion for Abandoned Mental Health Patients Through the Hope Fund, Psychiki Ygeia Foundation Uganda (PYFU) provides essential support to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our mental health care system—patients who are isolated, abandoned, or brought to hospitals under distressing circumstances. These include individuals rescued from abusive environments, those abandoned by their families at health facilities, and others found on the streets and brought in by the police.
Often arriving with no personal belongings or support system, these patients face not only the challenges of mental illness but also the pain of neglect and loneliness. The Hope Fund was created to restore dignity and show compassion to these individuals during their recovery journey. Through this initiative, we provide basic necessities such as:
- Clothing for warmth and decency,
- Soap and hygiene supplies to promote personal cleanliness and self-respect,
- Food items and snacks to supplement hospital meals and ensure proper nourishment.

By meeting these fundamental needs, we aim to ease the burden on both the patients and the healthcare system, while also reminding each individual that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. The Hope Fund is more than a donation—it is a message of humanity and healing for those who need it most.
