Alex Mpaata

FOUNDER

By founding Physchiki Ygeria Foundation Uganda, Alex a community psychologist is creating awareness about mental health and wellbeing, and breaking stigma on mental illnesses in different communities such as schools, hospitals, homes and work places among others. He has built a team of psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers and together, they are changing the mindset towards mental health in Uganda.

Alex’s mission is to create awareness on mental health wellbeing by providing knowledge to people in communities, access to health care though advocacy for availability of medicines and breaking barriers of stigma of those struggling with mental illnesses or their family/care takers.

It is almost a decade since Alex started working with different organizations as a researcher in the fields of mental health. Key among these organizations are Makerere University School of Health Sciences, Mulago Hospital and Medical Research Council whose work in the mental health space inspired and shaped the vision Alex carries today.

Alex is also a member of the prestigious MINOVA fellowship; a fellowship that has attained a long time experience of working in mental units in hospitals and conducting community outreaches through research studies since 2017.

Igaga Peter Abraham

Head of Finance

Igaga Peter Abraham is a Financial Analyst and Tax Advisor with 8 years of expertise in enhancing SME growth. He possesses qualifications including a Diploma in Tax and Revenue Administration, ACCA Diploma, Bachelor’s in Science and Accounting, and a Diploma in Accounting and Finance, and is currently advancing his MBA at LJMU. He is dedicated to personal finance, strategic financial modeling, and data-driven analysis

Kevin Musoke

Administrator

Kevin is a passionate advocate for mental wellness and self-care. In their role as Administrator, he is committed to driving initiatives that support community wellbeing and foster a culture of mental health awareness. Through this project, he aims to help break down stigmas surrounding mental health and empower others to prioritize their own well-being.

Norah Gift Kembabazi

Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

A community development practitioner aged 30 years with7 years of demonstrated experience in research, designing, implementing monitoring & evaluation systems and coordinating both qualitative and quantitative studies. With a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Uganda Management Institute, Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and Children’s ministry from Uganda Christian University and an assortment of other research & M&E related certifications, Norah has amassed outstanding and diverse experience in planning, implementation of research and M&E with specific focus in designing result-based M&E systems, coordination, conducting of research activities, building the capacity of field teams, design and digitization of data collection tools, reporting and dissemination of research and M&E findings.

Having worked with organizations like Private Sector Foundation Uganda, Medical Research Council, USAID- SITES, SAVE the Children, FHI360, Makerere University School of Public Health on various projects, she has accumulated vast experience in using reporting databases including the Health Management Information System (HMIS), mobile data collection systems such as ODK, Survey CTO, Kobo and analytical tools such as SPSS, R, NVIVO, RedCap and Advanced Excel.

Patrick Tenywa

Head of Operations

Patrick Tenywa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts in Economics from Kyambogo University (2011-2015) and a certificate in Economic Evaluation from University of Washington. He possesses a wealth of experience in collecting and analyzing economic evaluation data in mental health economics. His previous work in health economics has contributed to the understanding of the cost of integrating depression management into routine HIV care in primary healthcare facilities in Uganda. Patrick is passionate about using his economics background to develop cost-effective interventions for mental health in Low and Middle Income countries like Uganda.

Walusimbi Emmanuel

HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS

Walusimbi Emmanuel is a distinguished photographer and filmmaker, renowned for his profound ability to tell compelling stories through his lens. As the founder of E Pictures Media Ltd, Emmanuel has dedicated his career to using visual media to create awareness about critical social issues, with a particular focus on mental health.

Emmanuel’s journey into photography and filmmaking began at a young age, driven by a passion for capturing the human experience in its most raw and authentic form. Over the years, he has honed his craft, blending technical expertise with a deep understanding of narrative storytelling. His work is characterized by its emotional depth, artistic excellence, and a commitment to shedding light on often overlooked subjects.

With E Pictures Media Ltd, Emmanuel has embarked on numerous projects that have not only garnered acclaim but also sparked important conversations around mental health. He believes in the power of visual storytelling to break down stigmas and foster empathy, creating a platform for individuals to share their stories and experiences. Through his films and photographs, Emmanuel aims to normalize discussions around mental health, encouraging a more open and supportive society.
